The last seven months have been quite a journey for all of us that love Barbaro. And that journey started in one instant. I wrote this poem about that impact.

The Choice
It was just an instant
That's all it took
In the blink of one's eye
The racing world shook
From the joy of the Derby
To the Preakness pain
Happy tears turned to sad ones
The Heavens did rain
And then was the time
A choice to make
It fell on the Jacksons
For Barbaro's sake
A personal decision
Affecting one horse
But this single choice
Altered more than one course
In deciding to save
Their beloved Barbaro
They affected a multitude
They could never know
That by making this choice
In the "big picture" perhaps small
They made a huge difference
For us all...
